Moorooduc Lunchtime Wine Tasting

Thursday, 24th September 2026 at 01.00pm

An informal lunchtime wine tasting with Kate from esteemed South African wine maker Moorooduc, they will be here to talk through their wines and help explain the flavours, smells and tasting notes on some of their standout wines.

Sublime cool-climate wines from a pioneering Mornington Peninsula producer

Established by Richard and Jill McIntyre in 1982, Moorooduc Estate is a family-owned winery on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Richard started out as a general surgeon with a passion for wine, so much passion that he decided to plant a vineyard!

Among the region’s pioneering producers, the estate has earned a reputation for elegant, complex and food-friendly wines, particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Its philosophy is centred on meticulous vineyard management, minimal chemical use, wild yeast fermentation and low-intervention winemaking, allowing each vineyard site to express its distinct character.

Today, the winery remains family-run, with Kate McIntyre MW playing a key role in its evolution. One of Australia’s few Masters of Wine, Kate has helped refine the estate’s flagship Pinot Noir and Chardonnay while introducing carefully considered innovations such as skins-fermented Pinot Gris and greater use of whole-bunch fermentation. Her influence reinforces Moorooduc’s commitment to site expression, sustainability and wines of authenticity. Kate works closely with Jeremy Magyar, the head winemaker and viticulturalist who, according to their website is ‘an excellent forklift driver and all-round awesome guy’!
